Last night friends and family gathered together. We met to help our dear Denise Banks-Grasedyck. For the second year in a row, she is going to compete at the World Championship of Public Speaking. And we met to help her with feedback.

We were 10 “coaches” listening to her touching speech. She had a powerful message that she shared from the bottom of her heart. “You are exactly where you are supposed to be!”

I learned two things:

First, a friend doesn’t give feedback. A friend shares advice. Generous advice! Nobody wants to hear feedback. You may be open to listening to generous pieces of advice. Wouldn’t you? Different words, different attitude, different impact!

Second, when you share generous advice, you also learn to give better pieces of advice to yourself! The more generous you are, the better!

Next time you have the opportunity to help a friend, a family member or anybody else. Remember Denise’s words, “You are exactly where you are supposed to be!” and give generous advice!

PS. Good Luck my dear friend! You are exactly where you are supposed to be. On that stage and in our lives!
